In humans, the deciduous teeth are only present in the primary dentition. These are our first teeth, which remain from infancy to early adulthood.
The primary dentition is the only human organ that is completely renewed once in its lifetime and it is composed of 20 teeth. The transition from deciduous teeth to permanent teeth is completed between the ages of 12 and 17.
